Grand Gr.2 Chase winner for Planteur in France

Planteur’s son Gran Diose was an impressive winner of the Gr.2 Grand Steeple-Chase de Compiegne at Compiegne in France yesterday.

The six-year-old galloped behind the leading group and jumped perfectly. He always had the leader Donne Le Change in his sights, barely coming off the bridle as he worked his way to the lead approaching the last, before forging clear on the run-in to win by four and a half lengths.

Trained in France, Gran Diose was following up a front running victory in the Gr.3 Prix Romati Chase and the Listed Prix Solitaire Chase both also at Compiegne earlier this year.

Trainer Louisa Carberry said: “He’s a very big horse and been gaining strength all year. He is gorgeous. Maybe he will run in the Prix Georges Courtois (Gr.2) or in England, we will speak with his owners.”

Bred and raced by his owners, Luc Monnet and Frederic Hinderze, Gran Diose is out Noanoa (Walk In The Park), a dual winner over hurdles at Auteuil and a half-sister to Listed hurdler winners/performers Arenui and Tjongejonge

Gran Diose is now Planteur’s best runner over jumps and hopefully one of many more to come. Over hurdles Planteur has also sired Gr.2 Premio Criterium di Primavera Hurdle winner Edidindo, and on the Flat the dual Gr.1 winner, Trueshan, also the recent winner for the third time of the Gr.2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot.
