The Foxes Gr.2 Dante win boosts Bangkok's pedigree

Bangkok’s pedigree just gets better and better with his half-brother The Foxes brave win in the Gr.2 Dante Stakes at York yesterday.

Successful in the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes last year as a two-year-old, he is now likely to head for the Gr.1 Classic Epsom Derby.

The Foxes and Bangkok are out of Tanaghum. A daughter of Darshaan and Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Mehthaaf, she is also the dam of Gr.1 Al Maktoum Challenge winner Matterhorn and Stakes winners Tactic, Yaazy and Perotan. In total, Tanaghum is the dam of 11 winners, seven with black-type, and she is the grandam of Champion miler and sire Ribchester; and Group winners Marbaan and Convergence.

Also in the family are Gr.1 winners and/or sires Elnadim, Occupandiste, Mondialiste and Intello, descending from the legendary Fall Aspen.

The Foxes is trained by Andrew Balding and owned by King Power Racing Co Ltd, the same connections as for Bangkok, and they are understandably delighted.

Andrew Balding said: “He’s a very good horse and very professional. He was the most beautiful yearling and he’s been a star to train so far. You’d have to think Epsom is the next step.”
