Trueshan back in Stakes winning form for Planteur

Planteur’s tough, sound and ultra talented son, Trueshan, was back in form today to comfortably win the Listed Coral Marathon at Sandown.

Jockey Hollie Doyle said: "It was great to see him come back to himself. He has just taken a few runs which does happen with older horses. I think he is very grateful not to have that 7lb penalty on his back and this has done his confidence good. It’s a nice platform going forward."

Trueshan was adding to his impressive black-type form which includes victories in three Gr.1 races for trainer Alan King, owners the Singula Partnership and jockey Hollie Doyle. He won the Gr.1 Prix du Cadran last year and in 2021, when he also won the Gr.1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup earning him the title of Champion Stayer.

The eight-year-old was also the first horse to win three races on British Champions Day having won the Gr.2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot three times. He has now won 10 Stakes races and amassed over £1.8m in prize money.

Bred by Didier Blot, Trueshan is a half-brother to five winners out of the dual French winner Shao Line (General Holme), and is one of the best performers under the first three dams on his page. Also in the family is Australian stayer True Marvel (Masked Marvel), runner-up in the Gr.1 Sydney Cup and third in the Gr.2 Brisbane Cup, as well as Gr.1 Irish St Leger winner and sire Flag of Honour (Galileo) and the Gr.1 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John (Midnight Legend).
